About CPRE

What We Do

We campaign for the countryside to be protected and enhanced for the benefit of everyone. We work mainly at a local level, striving to influence opinion formers throughout the county and the South East region. We also work with CPRE nationally to influence national planning policy.

Our work focuses on

• land use planning
• transport
• natural resources
• the quality, character and diversity of the countryside
• rural economies, services and quality of life

We have 12 district groups, which examine planning applications and make representations when appropriate to get the best deal for the countryside. They also try to influence policies in local plans and guidance.

Our specialist groups work on issues such as land use planning and transport, with the aim of getting the right houses in the right place, and better strategies for transport.
