Our Hedgerow Heroes are digging in!
Kent’s Hedgerow Heroes are getting into full swing as we help CPRE work towards the target of increasing hedgerow cover in England by 40 per cent before 2050.
In our county alone, working with the Countryside Management Partnership (CMP) teams, we’ve assigned more than three and half miles of hedgerow to plant and/or restore. That’s some 28,000 hedgerow trees we’ll be involved with in planting before March next year.
And we’ve been practising as we preach! CPRE Kent staff were last week out over two days planting mixed-species hedgerow at Newlands Farm, near Sittingbourne, all ably assisted in the field by volunteers and helpers from the Medway Swale Estuary Partnership.
Elsewhere, our friends from the North West Kent Countryside Partnership joined us today (Tuesday, December 9) at Shoreham for more of the very same.

- If you would like to take part in future planting days, follow our e-newsletter (email info@cprekent.org.uk to subscribe) and/or follow our social-media channels for upcoming information about dates and locations. Alternatively, email us to register your interest.
To get the New Year ball rolling, though, some early 2026 dates are at beautiful Bilsington Priory in the south of the county:
Friday, January 16; Friday, January 30; and Friday, February 6.
