The fight for Oaken Wood needs you! Please contact your county councillor
CPRE Kent are asking for your help in the fight to save the ancient woodland of Oaken Wood.
After the county council’s decision to allocate Oaken Wood in the Kent Minerals Site Plan – potentially destroying 41 hectares of ancient woodland – we took legal advice and served it with a Pre-Action Protocol letter.
The letter seeks to have the decision on the submission of the Kent Minerals Site Plan returned to Full Council.
Sadly, the county council refused.
As such, CPRE Kent are pushing ahead with further legal proceedings, filing a claim for judicial review and applying for an injunction to stop the county council submitting the plan.
The truth is that we would far rather resolve this through councillors than through the courts. Bringing the decision back to Full Council would show that the public have been listened to and could avoid further legal costs and uncertainty.
It would demonstrate the widespread strength of feeling if members of the public – you – could contact as many county councillors as possible asking for the decision on the Kent Minerals Site Plan to be returned to Full Council.
